NodeConf 2023
Event Branding
This was a highly rewarding project that spanned multiple design disciplines, including web, motion graphics, video, print, and app design. At the core of NodeConf’s brand identity was the Node.js logo, which needed to resonate with a community of developers and engineers.
Challenge
Increase ticket sales for a three-day in-person event while creating a distinctive conference experience that developers would want to revisit year after year.
Approach
My goal was not just to design another tech conference, but to craft a memorable experience. One that was nostalgic, thought-provoking, and engaging. This project pushed me to explore a wide skillset, combining creativity with strategy.
Deliverables
App Design, Motion Graphics, Events, Concept Building, 3D Illustration, Graphic Design, Web Design, Webflow

Visual Identity:
The NodeConf logo was built around the hexagon, a shape rooted in the Node.js brand. I expanded this into a full identity system, using bold colors and dynamic 3D forms to create a cohesive look and feel that carried across every aspect of the conference branding.

App Design:
Community was at the heart of the event, so the challenge was to design a cost effective way to bring people together. Inspired by the iconic video game Tetris, I developed a concept using colourful 3D block shapes as the foundation. Working closely with a developer, we built a QR scanning, community driven game that encouraged attendees to connect and explore.
QR codes featuring unique Tetris style shapes were hidden throughout the conference - at the end of talks, on tea cups, and most importantly, on attendee lanyards. Players were encouraged to chat, exchange scans, and collaborate, all with the goal of building their own cube in the fastest time.

Website:
The NodeConf website served as the primary driver for event traffic. It featured profiles for 38 speakers, complete with bios and social links, along with a dynamic agenda page that could be easily updated as the conference unfolded. Accessibility was a core priority, ensuring the site was fully inclusive through careful choices in colour, typography, and layout using webflow.
Motion Graphics:
Motion played a central role in NodeConf’s identity. Animated videos were created both as promotional assets for social media and as immersive visuals during the event. Each speaker was introduced with a bespoke animation, combining audio and visual effects to create a dynamic and memorable stage presence.
Video Interviews:
A series of fireside style interviews were recorded during the conference, capturing insights from speakers and attendees. I managed the full process, from setting up camera equipment onsite to editing and producing the final videos in post production.
